This is Ravel in a nutshell : an anxious craftsman seeking perfection in his work.
What is Melomania ?

Centrally located on one of the main left bank boulevards near the Latin quarter, we offer over 20 000 quality classical CDs. Melomania is the temple of classical music in Paris.

Dans une collection réputée pour la qualité exceptionnelle de ses prises de son, voici certainement l'un de ses fleurons. Le piano sonne rond et précis, sans être détaché de l'acoustique générale de l'orchestre. Byron Janis, le meilleur élève qu'ai jamais eu Horowitz, apparaît virevoltant et irrésistible. L'enregsitrement du premier concerto de Rachmaninov est celui qui a été utilisé au générique de l'émission télévisée littéraire de Bernard Pivot, 'Apostrophe'.
