Melomania
Melomania is a parisian shop selling used classical CDs and DVDs. The company was founded in 1995, compact discs had been around for something like 20 years and recorded music went back over a hundred years, representing tens of thousands of different recordings.
Clearly, traditional outlets are not equipped to handle such a wide range of products and can only offer a small fraction of what is currently available. Priority is generally given to bestsellers and marginal repertory or small labels are often completely absent from the shelves. Most specialised classical music retailers have been forced to close and now even the large chain stores have almost completely abandoned this activity.
Classical music is an important aspect of western culture and should continue to be available to new generations. Our database currently hosts over 6 500 composers from all periods and every day we add dozens of new recordings. Staff at Melomania are highly competent and seek to guide customers with information on rare composers and important versions.
Our stock comprises at any given time approximately 20 000 quality recordings from all areas of classical music, be it basic listening or specialist repertory. You will find essential recordings alongside hard-to-find collectors’ items. Many products have been deleted from catalogues for years, and some are almost impossible to find elsewhere. Prices are extremely competitive and there has never been a better time to start a record collection.
Our website reflects this philosophy. Whether you are just starting an interest in classical music or already have a vast collection, we are sure you will find something of interest. Our aim is to provide you with a quality of service at a fraction of the normal price with the same level of guarantee you would expect from a traditional source.
