Melomania is a Paris-based shop specializing in second-hand classical CDs and DVDs, founded in 1995.
Its creation stemmed from an obvious observation about the state of the music market: the compact disc has existed for over 30 years, and the history of recorded music spans more than a century — representing hundreds of thousands of different titles.
It is clear that traditional distribution channels cannot sustain such a vast heritage and only offer a fragmented selection at any given time.
Nevertheless, we have observed that a significant segment of classical music enthusiasts wish both to access a broader, and often complementary, range of titles beyond what publishers and distributors offer, and to listen, compare, and refresh their collections.
As a result, a dynamic network for buying and selling second-hand classical CDs between individuals quickly developed. This allows us to maintain a steady and diverse supply of high-quality recordings — many of which have been unavailable for years or are now extremely rare.
Aware of the limited range now offered by traditional distributors, we launched our website to give you the same advantages as our in-store customers.
