This edition contains Pierre Monteux' all recordings recorded between 1956 and 1963 for Decca, Philips, Westminster and for Decca/RCA. For the first time, this comprehensive edition reflects the whole breadth of his repertoire and documents the freshness of his music making as well as his fidelity to the score. In his long and exceedingly successful career he took on numerous senior positions, in Ballet Russes (1911-14), in the Metropolitan Opera (1917-19), moreover for the Boston Symphony Orchestra (1919-24), the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra (1924-34), the Orchestre Symphony phonique de Paris (1929-38), the San Francisco Symphony (1936-52), and finally the London Symphony Orchestra (1961 until his death in 1963).
